Members of National Renaissance Foundation (NRF), has applauded the governor of Kano State, HE Abdullahi Ganduje for his unflinching support towards the emergence of Senator Godswill Akpabio as Senate President of the 10th assembly of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
Members of NRF said, “The inspiring statement and endorsement of Senator Akpabio made by governor Ganduje rightly distinguished him (Ganduje) as a stateman who wishes Nigeria well in the coming political dispensation.
They noted with glee, the unrivaled commitment and enthusiasm with which governor Ganduje galvanizes support for Senator Akpabio to ensure he emerges as President of the Nigerian Senate in the 10th assembly.
They noted that governor Ganduje, in his widely popularized speech, said, “The Senate President will come from the South-south and it’s no other person than the former governor of Akwa Ibom, the uncommon governor, the uncommon minister who will be the uncommon president of the Senate.”
Members of NRF further noted that the governor of Kano State had earlier announced that governors of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), under the umbrella of Progressive Governors Forum (PGF) had resolved to zone the next Senate President to the South-south geopolitical region of the country, stating that the person who the cap properly fits is Senator Godswill Akpabio.
Continue, the members of NRF described governor Abdullahi Ganduje’s support for Senator Akpabio as a divine manifestation of the will of the people.
The members of NRF, while expressing confident in Senator Akpabio’s competence and charismatic endowment, stated that the choice of Akpabio is predicated on his geniality and humble disposition which they said was openly and exhaustively displayed on the day of the APC presidential primaries, stating that Akpabio’s rare decision to withdraw from the race for President of Federal Republic of Nigeria, coupled with his decision to collapse his political structure in support of Asiwaju Bola Tinubu was the peek of his humility and a testament to his nationalistic candour and untainted belief in the unity and progress of the country.
Continuing, they said that Akpabio’s stand for the unity and progress of Nigeria was evidently prominent in his emotion laden speech that announced his stepping down from the presidential race, just to pave the way for the emergence of Asiwaju Ahmed Bola Tinubu as the presidential flag bearer of the APC, in a keenly contested primaries.
They said that the benevolent gesture of Akpabio would facilitay his ascension to the position of President of the Nigerian Senate in the 10th assembly.
They said, “It is time for the President-elect, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu to reciprocate the “brotherly” love and support Senator Akpabio had expressed toward him, before, during and after the elections.
