As the political turf gets busier ahead of the forth coming 2023 General Elections in Nigeria, political Parties in Delta State are gearing up to produce the next Governor of the State come 2023. Just as heated discussions are centered on which Political Party would produce the next Governor of the oil rich Delta State, Accord Party is standing firm to erase all doubts in the minds of Deltans, by bravely taken a formidable step to displace all big names in the political contest, and comfortably occupy Osadebe House, the seat of power in the State.
In a Press Statement made available to the media through the Acting State Publicity Secretary of the Party in the State, the Chairman of the Party, Mr. Fred Obi, while unfolding the transformation agenda of the Party in the run up of the 2023 election, stated among other laudable initiatives of the Party to include, to rescue Delta State from the grip of economic asphyxiation.
He said, “the time has come for the good people of Delta State to reap the dividend of democracy. Accord Party is on a rescue mission, to engender social equity, eradicate poverty through job creation, promote food security through massive food production, provide sustainable housing schemes for Deltans, prudently harness the resources of the State, promote prosperity and an efficient, dynamic and self-reliant economy. In a nutshell, Accord Party shall manage the State’s economy in such a manner as to secure the maximum welfare, freedom and happiness of every Deltan, on the basis of social justice, equality of status and opportunity.”
Mr. Obi further noted that the contests for the coveted office of governor was quite interesting and normal in a democratic setting, even as he cautioned other political parties to throw in the towel, saying that the game was already over.
His words, “it is no doubt a normal development to have the political arena of the State currently bombarded with enormous activities of various political parties and politicians, geared towards producing the next governor of the State in 2023. In the heat of these fierce political activities, I want to sternly advise other political parties and the politicians riding on their crests not to waste their time, energy and resources in the forthcoming 2023 gubernatorial election because their time is over. The salient message I’m communicating to the electorates is that Accord Party is on an unstoppable move to occupy Osadebe House – the seat of power in Delta State. Therefore, our party does not have any match or rivalry in the forthcoming gubernatorial election in the State. To say that the good people of Delta State are itching seriously to have Accord Party pilot the administrative, but teething affairs of our dear Delta, to put things right as quick as possible, is not a rhetoric.”
Obi continued, “against the backdrop of the tumbledown in the political firmament of our State over time, it is not an exaggeration that our State is in dire need of better hands to manage the huge resources of the State to improve the wellbeing of all Deltans”.
According to him, having Accord Party in Delta State Government House, will erase the dark days of economic stagnation, worrisome unemployment, extreme poverty, decrepit infrastructure, dilapidated health sector, decaying education sector, nonexistent urban housing, excruciating hunger amongst others”.
Reacting to questions as to the soaring popularity of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the State, the Delta State Accord Party stalwart said that the seeming popularity of PDP or APC in Delta State is not anything to worry about. He expressed optimism that the State is entering into a new phase of politicking that is in tune with the mission and objectives of Accord Party. Therefore, the transformation Accord Party is set to make happen in Delta state is the very stuff the good people of the State are yearning for, not the popularity of a political party.”
He added that, “Accord party is very much a popular Party in Delta State that brings to play a distinction in the game of politics, and its cardinal pursuit within the gamut of politics is simply economic prosperity of Deltans in full scale.”
Mr. Obi, vehemently debunked the rumour being peddled in some quarters that Accord party is an affiliate of the PDP, saying that Accord party is a new branded political party for true democrats with unwavering commitment to change the face of politics and governance in Delta state and Nigeria at large.
He called on Deltans to ‘shine their eyes’ and make the right decision now by joining Accord Party in the patriotic mission to rescue Delta State from the shackles of underdevelopment. “The time is now, the time is 2023,” he stated.
