EFFURUN/Nigeria: A non-governmental organization (NGO) known as Friends Against Drug Abuse (FADA) has established anti-drug units in some secondary schools in Delta State.
This was made known by the President of the FADA Ejiroghene Erifevieme in an exclusive media chat with our correspondent shortly after the Easter fiesta/sensitization program organized by the NGO in Ogunu Shell, Warri at the last Easter day.
He explained that the purpose of forming the anti-drug units was to curb the web of drug abuse at the infantry stage.
Erifevieme disclosed further that the benefiting public secondary schools are in Uvwie, Sapele, Udu and other neighbouring local government areas in Delta State.
He also proudly disclosed that FADA has so far brought 3 youths out of the World of drug addiction.
Erifevieme had earlier in his key note address, promised the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) boss, retired Brigadier-General Mohammed Marwa continued support of FADA in the war against drug abuse.
“We shall continue to partner with NDLEA in the fight against drug abuse in our society till the war is won,” he vowed.
While thanking those that committed their resources and time in supporting FADA in the fight against drug abuse, Erifevieme appealed to Governor Ifeanyi Okowa to partner with the NGO in the life saving mission.
The event was richly attended by officials of NDLEA, Ministries of Basic and Secondary Education Delta State, youths, and NGOs, among others. The event featured questions and answers session.
