OKPANAM/Nigeria: The need for individuals, especially those entrusted with leadership responsibilities to avail themselves of such recognition to impact positively on the well-being of their people and abstain from actions that could rent their image has again been emphasised.

The General Coordinator of Ogbeosadi Land Recovery Committee in Okpanam, Comrade Lucky Okolo gave the advice in Okpanam, Oshimili North Local Government Area of Delta State while speaking to journalists shortly after the ground breaking ceremony for a befitting plaza project in the community.

Comrade Okolo, who underscored the importance of the facility, stated that the initiative was birthed as a deliberate measure to generate income for the growth and development of the community.

While affirming that it was through the spirit of unity and commitment of the elders and youths in the area that several projects in the community including the first class town hall and empowerment to some youths and women was realised.

Comrade Okolo, who, used the opportunity to pay glowing tributes to his late father, late  Ogbueshi  Stephen Okolo who he reiterated initiated most of the developmental ideas , disclosed that since the completion and commissioning of the town hall, some communities in Okpanam had been adopting the template to build their own.

In their separate remarks, elder Pius Mokwenyei and Mr. Okonkwo Ofili, said that the gesture was intended to create a formidable source of income generation for the community and called for all hands to be on deck towards actualising the vision.

The duo , who noted that the plaza project would be enjoyed by all indigenes of Ogbeozoma communty , added that the project belonged to them even as they maintained that the proceeds from Comrade Lucky Okolo led recovery committee was being utilised judiciously .

Elder Mokwenyei and Mr. Okonkwo, reaffirmed their commitments to contribute their quota towards the growth of Ogbeosadi community, saying that there was need for the people to remain united at all times and shun things that could divide them , explaining that the progress of any society depended largely on their unity.
