Ohaneze Ndigbo, Delta Central & South Senatorial Districts (DCSSD), on Tuesday, 30 August, 2022, paid glowing tribute to the Olu of Warri, Ogiame Atuwatse III.

Speaking at the epoch event, the President of Ohaneze Ndigbo, DCSSD, High Chief Chiedu Idama, congratulated the monarch on the occasion of his one year coronation anniversary, saying, “this is a rare opportunity for the Igbo community in Warri and environs to humbly felicitate with the revered monarch of Warri kingdom and honour him specially for a successful and peaceful one year reign as the monarch of great Warri kingdom. We also use this occasion to fervently pray for the success of his reign, in Jesus name, Amen.

Continuing, Chief Idama described the monarch as a first class king in Nigeria, saying,  “your peaceful disposition is the hallmark of a monarch who is passionate about a sustainable future for Itsekiri unity, culture and heritage.” Chief Idama further stated that the monarch’s reign had brought excitement, innovation and hope to the good people of Itsekiri nation including the residents of Warri.

He added that Ndigbo had maintained unbroken mutual relationship with the Itsekiri nation spanning decades, noting that the existing atmosphere of cordiality would jealously be sustained to deepen the good relationship between Ndigbo and Itsekiri nation for greater good.

In a modest show of loyalty and solidarity to the Olu of Warri, Chief Idama assured the monarch of Ndigbo’s unfettered support to the growth and development of Warri kingdom and Itsekiri nation, asking that Ndigbo should be integrated into the monarch’s developmental policies, assuring of Ndigbo’s commitment to promoting peace, and contributing to the growth and development of Warri kingdom and the Itsekiri nation.

Responding, the monarch thanked Ohaneze Ndigbo for the glowing tribute, prayers and the gift they presented to him. He prayed for the unity and progress of Ndigbo and also blessed them.

The occasion was spiced with melodious tunes from oja – Igbo traditional flute. The blower of the oja excellently displayed great skill as he made melodic tones and thrilled the audience. In a similar vein, a popular Itsekiri cultural group took turns to entertain the audience with  melodic tunes as they danced to the admiration of the audience.

The occasion was made tick with the presence of ISI-IGBO,  Sir Peter Chukwu, and retinue of fabulously dressed Igbo sons and daughters that impressively set the arena aglow.
