Delta: The Senator representing Delta Central Senatorial district, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege, is to offer scholarship to about 200 undergraduates who are students of the Delta State University.

The senator made this known in Ughelli weekend in Ughelli during the first phase of his empowerment programme for the people of the district.

He said that education is a vital instrument of development, and the scholarship will enable the beneficiaries to put their best and prepare for their own contribution to the development of the state when they graduate.

The lawmaker said: “I am not here today to render my stewardship but am here to appreciate the efforts of the Okada riders and all those who stood by me during my election.

“When am done with this programme, I would invite everyone to Uviamughe to render my stewardship on the one year 5 months that I have spent in the senate.

“This empowerment programme is a continuous exercise that would be extended to other local government areas in Delta Central. Though we can’t extend the programme to everyone, those who do not benefit today would benefit tomorrow.”

During the flag off, about 400 persons from Delta Central were giving various sums of money, and motor cycles, popularly known as “Okada”.

The event which was held at the Ughelli Town Hall and the Ughelli Main market was attended by hundreds of commercial motorcycle riders popularly known.
