ASABA/Nigeria: Rt Hon Emomotimi Dennis Guwor, the Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly and National Treasurer of the Conference of Speakers of States Houses of Assembly in Nigeria, has called upon Nigerians of goodwill to unite in the pursuit of a prosperous nation.
Highlighting Nigeria’s potential for greatness, Speaker Guwor underscored the global expectation for unity of purpose, religious tolerance, and development from the country.
“Even the global community expects more from Nigeria in terms of unity of purpose, religious tolerance, and development,” Guwor remarked in his New Year message, as conveyed by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Nkem Nwaeke.
Expressing optimism in realizing the aspirations of Nigeria’s founding fathers, Guwor urged citizens to maintain hope while urging the federal government to address prevalent challenges, notably insecurity, poverty, and unemployment.
Emphasizing the Delta State Assembly’s commitment to collaboration with Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, Guwor anticipated a year of significant progress in 2024, citing the early passage of the “Budget of Hope and Optimism” as a catalyst for socio-economic growth in the state.
“The early passage and assent to the State Budget for the 2024 fiscal year have set the tone for accelerated socio-economic growth and development in the state,” he stated.
Guwor also conveyed felicitations to the people of Delta State for their resilience in the face of challenges in 2023 while expressing wishes for a prosperous 2024.
Speaking optimistically about the future, he affirmed, “We survived 2023 despite all the challenges and uncertainties. 2024 shall be great for everyone. The Nigeria of our dreams must be achieved. We must keep hope alive and collectively ensure a conducive atmosphere for good governance to thrive.”
Encouraging unwavering support from Deltans for the state government’s vision, Guwor reiterated the Delta State Legislature’s commitment to collaboration with the Executive for the state’s growth and development.
“The Delta State Legislature has resolved to continue to collaborate with the Executive for growth and development in the state. 2024 will witness stronger synergy in that regard. All that is required is the support and cooperation of Deltans,” he emphasized.
