Delta State Local Content Agency (DSLCA), will on 2 December, 2021, hold a 1-Day Stakeholders Summit to popularize the activities of the agency and get the stakeholders comply with the policies and directives of the state’s local content laws which came into operation on 16 September, 2020.

The Director General of the agency, Hon. Morris Idiovwa, stated this through the Senior Technical Adviser to the agency, Chief Emma Avworo, at a press briefing held at the office of the agency, in Warri, head quarters of Warri South local government of Delta state. He said the summit would hold at Unity Hall, Government House, Asaba.

Continuing, the DG stated the objectives of the summit to include creating a platform through which the agency would be formally introduced to companies operating in the state; harnessing ideas on how best to implement local content policies; encourage the use of MOUs/GMOUs in defining relationship between the state and host communities with focus on the development of local workforce/capacity of local contractors, and encouraging the development of local skills and entrepreneurship to facilitate creation of employment, development of enterprise, including local economic growth.

According to the DG, the maiden summit, which is expected to be chaired by the Managing Director of Shell Nigeria Exploration Company (SNEPCO), Mrs. Elohor Aiboni, would provide Governor Ifeanyi Okowa a veritable platform to lend his voice to the innovations the agency is bringing on stream, in a bid to surmounting any gridlocks the agency may encounter when it is fully operational.

Fielding questions from journalists, Chief Avworo said that the agency would implement its policies to the letter, stressing that due diligence and commitment to the vision and mission of the agency would not be compromised.
According to the DG’s address, the following personalities, Engr. Alex Neyin, Dr. Leamon Ikpea, and other experts in the oil industry are expected to be the guest speakers at the maiden summit.
