Mr. Kassim Afegbua
BENIN-CITY/Nigeria: Senior Special Assistant on media to the Deputy Governor of Edo State, Mr. Ben Atu on Sunday described Governor Godwin Obaseki as a role model and a polished politician.
‘’Governor Godwin Obaseki is a visionary leader and a bridge builder. His thorough leadership style has inspired the wonderful people of Edo State’’.
In a statement in Benin, Atu carpeted the former Commissioner for Information and Orientation in Edo State, Mr. Kassim Afegbua, for his unnecessary attack on the government and People of Edo State.
The deputy governor’s aide scolded Afegbua for cutting a bad image for Etsako East.
‘’Kassim Afegbua is a disgrace to Edo State. He lacks home training’’
The media aide described former commissioner as a mischief maker and the voice of a particular interest synonymous with public posturing, lying and public pillage.
‘’Kassim Afegbua is a television and newspaper politician. His political strength starts and ends only in the media. He has no political relevance in Etsako East’’.
The media Aide also ridiculed the former National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Comrade Adams Oshiomhole for chasing Afegbua out of Edo State..
‘The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) provided a shelter for Afegbua when Oshiomhole chased him out of Edo State. Is this how to thank PDP leaders? He is as an ungrateful person.
He eulogized Obaseki for his competence, courage and the constancy in his conviction and political choices.
‘’When will Afegbua stop this campaign of character assassination against the government and the people of Edo State? When is he going to stop his one day, one lie? The people of Edo State know Afegbua for talking from the both side of his mouth. He traded away his integrity for peanuts.
He listed personal envy, vaulting ambition and gluttonous appetite for personal power as reasons for Afegbua’s action.
‘’The structure of the People’s Democratic Party PDP is not the property of Afegbua but the people. Why is Afegbua claiming ownership of a national party? Is it his inheritance? Was Afegbua an active member of the PDP? What grounds is Afegbua questioning the decision of the founders of the party?
The media Aide urged Afegbua to accept the fact that Oshiomhole failed the good people of Edo State.
“Afegbua is succumbing to political forces that are bent on destroying Edo State. His romance with the APC will not last long. He is known as a perpetual political betrayal. He can’t endure pain”.
He accused Afegbua of playing politics of the stomach.
‘’Kassim Afegbua should burry his head in shame that he could not attract development to his community or influence the construction of the road. Governor Obaseki will embarrass Kasssim Afegbua by completing the road projects in Okpella that Kassim and Oshiomhole abandoned’’ the statement added.
