Open Defecation

KWALE/Nigeria: In a bid to end Open Defecation across the state, the Clean Nigeria Campaign Secretariat of the Ministry of Water Resources in conjunction with the Delta State Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Agency, RUWASA has decided to train ten Masons from each ward across Ndokwa West Local government area towards building of toilets to end open defecation.
A statement by the National Coordinator, Clean Nigeria Campaign Secretariat Mrs Opara Chizoba Ngozi said the need to build toilets in the various localities was key to ending open defecation in the state as well as empowering the Masons.

Mrs Opara said that building toilets was a revenue generating programme which would help in not only eradicating open Defecation but also enhance the economic wellbeing of the Masons.
She therefore enjoined the Masons to take the training seriously as it was a way of enhancing their productivity in the society as well as helping government eradicate open Defecation.
Mrs Opara said the training was to build capacity for local Masons and support them to become toilet owners as well as increasing the number of toilets constructed in the various localities.
The statement asserted that Ndokwa West Local Government would kick start the programme with the training expected to run for four days which would see the participants having one day theory and three days practical sessions.
