IDUMUJE/Nigeria: The recent fire incidents that razed three blocks of five class rooms and the science laboratory building at Idumuje Mixed Secondary School, in Aniocha North Local Government Area of Delta State have been described as unfortunate and set back to the school.

The principal of the school, Mrs Victoria Animali, who disclosed this during a chart with our correspondent in her office, lamented that the fire incident, which occurred at night, spread into the school premises through the surrounding bushes within the school location.

According to her, the school was yet to recover from the devastating effect of the fire on teaching and learning, saying that she had reported the incident to the community and the PTA of the school, but no corresponding response from any of them.

Animali, however, used the opportunity to appeal to the state government to come to the aid of the school to enable teaching and learning to be carried out in a comfortable classroom, adding that the remaining buildings in the school were all in dilapidated conditions.

She added that the roof of the newly built administrative block by NDDC had been blown off by the wind.
