ASHAKA/Delta State: The Kenneth Okanoro Foundation (KOF) has successfully concluded its comprehensive medical outreach, benefiting 1,810 residents across the 10 wards of Ndokwa East Local Government Area. The initiative, which ran from August 30 to September 20, 2024, garnered widespread praise for providing free medical services to underserved communities.
The outreach was organized in collaboration with the office of the Senior Special Assistant to the Delta State Governor and the Ndokwa/Ukwuani Medical Professionals Forum (NUMPF).
Over the four-week period, medical services were delivered in seven designated health centers, including Ashaka, Osissa, Ibrede, Onogbokor, Okpai, Ibedeni, and Aboh. This ensured that even the most remote areas had access to vital healthcare.
Residents of Ndokwa East expressed their gratitude to Hon. Kenneth Okanoro, Chairman of the foundation, for spearheading the outreach.
Mr. Efe Emade from Ibrede, who received treatment for eye problems alongside his son, praised the initiative for restoring their sight. He urged well-meaning individuals to follow the foundation’s example in reaching out to the less privileged.
Madam Comfort Abanum from Ashaka also lauded the programme, describing it as a lifeline for families struggling with the high cost of medical care. She emphasized how the free services provided by the foundation had significantly alleviated the health challenges in her community.
Other beneficiaries interviewed expressed their gratitude to the Chairman of the Foundation, offering prayers and appreciation for the invaluable services provided during the outreach, which had a significant impact on their communities.
In addition to medical care, the outreach featured a back-to-school initiative aimed at supporting education. The foundation distributed 500 educational materials, including school bags, mathematical sets, and notebooks. Scholarships were also awarded to four deserving students from various communities within the local government area.
Notably, the outreach facilitated 24 surgeries, addressing critical conditions such as cataracts, glaucoma, fibroids, and hernia repairs. Beneficiaries also received free consultations, laboratory screenings, dental and eye care, counseling, and physiotherapy.
Speaking at the conclusion of the program, Hon. Kenneth Okanoro expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to serve the people of Delta State. He reiterated that the KOF’s efforts were designed to complement and support the M.O.R.E Agenda of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, aimed at improving healthcare access and community welfare across the state.
