ABUJA/Nigeria: Leaders at various levels in Nigeria had been called to support the development of the Nigerian youth in the quest to advance the course in the society through the use of their innate potentials.
This call was made by the Delta born, politician, Hon. Ned Nwoko, call in Abuja, Friday, when he received members of the Local Organising Committee. of a yearly comedy fiesta, Laff-it-off with Onome, in his office.
Hon. Nwoko who is known for his supportive for talent development, said he was, particularly, thrilled that young Nigerians were beginning to use their talents to create value that attracts financial patronage across the globe.
“I will continue to offer my support to people like you in what you are doing. I have watched a few of you and I know that you are really good at your stuff. You can always get better. Our boys are doing well in the arts everywhere across the globe. Outside the shores of this country, we have got theatres where the same people perform daily, yet their people continue to appreciate what they do and the artistes keep getting better. We, in fact, all our leaders must learn to encourage and support our own in order to get better.”
Earlier, while stating the reason for the team’s visit, Chairman of the LOC of the yearly programme and National Convener of United Summit Friends, Michael Matthew, said he, as well as many young Nigerians, had been inspired by the professional excellence and philanthropic gestures of the Senator-elect and former Member of Nigeria’s House of Representatives to toe the path of hard work that was devoid of any personal dent, fraud or official sleaze.
The above, Matthew said had informed the choice of Hon.Nwoko as the Special Personality and Brand Patron of this year’s Laff-it-off-with-Onome-Da-Saint event scheduled for Sunday, the 26th of May at the Congress Hall of the Transcorp Hilton, Abuja.
On his own, the stand-up act and originator of the programme, Onome Ohwodo, said his brand had in the past few years used its Shows to support the work of charity usually aimed at providing information and help to sufferers of Asthma and Allergy, including underprivileged children with talents. The celebrated Master of Ceremonies used the occasion to request the support and cooperation of the British-trained lawyer, who, he said, deserved nothing other than the team’s best wishes and prayers in his new marital union.
Among those who were part of the visit were Chijioke Onuoha, Director of Logistics as well as Nkem Anyata-Lafia , Director, Media & Publicity of the Local Organising Committee of the 2019 event.
