The Host Communities Producing Oil and Gas (HOSTCOM), Itsekiri chapter, has adopted the re-election bid of the incumbent governor of Delta State, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa.
This was made known to a gathering of the representatives of the ethnic chapters of HOSTCOM, on the occasion of the HOSTCOM Itsekiri chapter town-hall meeting aimed at mobilising and sensitising the host communities on the forthcoming 2019 elections.
The town-hall meeting was held on Friday 8 February, at Warri Club.
In his address, the Chairman, HOSTCOM Itsekiri chapter, Chief Mene Justice, praised the Delta State Chairman of HOSTCOM, Evang. Gabriel Isibeluo for his exemplary leadership, saying that the Itsekiri HOSTCOM would give him the needed support as he steers the pressure group to achieving its goals.
Speaking at the occasion, Isibeluo emphasised peace as the enabler of any meaningful development in HOSTCOM. He tasked the Itsekiri chapter of HOSTCOM to consolidate on the gains of peace and move on as a formidable entity.
Continuing, Isibeluo stressed the need for HOSTCOM to build a synergy with the administration of Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, in order to be part of the government in the coming political dispensation. He told the enthusiastic audience that Governor Okowa had proved his mettle as a dependable leader with diligent commitment to the development of HOSTCOM since he took over the reins of office. Isibeluo said that in recent times, HOSTCOM had benefitted immensely from Governor Okowa’s administration, saying it would be right to give him full support to actualise his re-election.
His words, ‘’It is my dream to see our members be part of the government of Delta State across board. I am looking forward to seeing our members appointed into DESOPADEC Board.”
Isibeluo said, “All these could be achieved if we vote en masse for Governor Ifeanyi Okowa in the forthcoming gubernatorial election.”
Evang. Isibeluo called on the host communities to vote massively for Governor Okowa to facilitate his victory in the 2019 gubernatorial election.
Speaking at the occasion, Hon. Francis Oritsuwa said it was time to restore the dignity of HOSTCOM, noting that the vision of the pressure group had not been met over the years despite the establishment of the Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (DESOPADEC), which HOSTCOM fought took and nail to achieve. He expressed hope in the ability of Governor Ifeanyi Okowa to create the enabling environment for economic and infrastructural transformation of the host communities, saying “HOSTCOM Itsekiri has taken a firm stand to support Governor Okowa’s re-election in the 2019 gubernatorial election”
The Woman Leader, HOSTCOM Itsekiri chapter, Evang. Grace Asadi, praised Governor Ifeanyi Okowa for facilitating monumental development in HOSTCOM. She assured of the groups’ support for the Governor’s re-election in the forthcoming election.
