The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Delta State Council will tomorrow, Friday 12 February, 2021, commence a One-on-One Chat with Chairmanship Candidates of political parties in the forth coming Local Government elections in Delta State.
The first segment of the media chat will hold at the Isoko Development Union (IDU) Secretariat, Oleh, headquarters of Isoko South Local Government Area of the state, as the Chairmanship candidates of political parties for Isoko North and Isoko South Local Government Areas are expected to attend the event.
Emphasizing importance of the novel event, a statement jointly signed by the Chairman, and Secretary of NUJ Delta State Council, Comrade Mike Ikeogwu, and Comrade Patrick Ochei, stated, “we want to assure Deltans that the NUJ will use everything in its professional and constitutional capacity to hold these set of intending political leaders at the third tier of Government accountable and by extension any other politician holding one position or the other in the State and beyond.”
Continuing, the statement added, “the candidates will seize the opportunity afforded them by the NUJ to unfold their programmes, policies and manifestoes to the electorates and the general public.”
The statement also called on the supporters of the candidates wishing to participate in the media session to come around, charging them to maintain decorum while the event lasts.
“We are equally using this medium to call on those candidates who have not received our letters, or responded to us, to endeavour to reach either the Chairman, Comrade Michael Ikeogwu or the Secretary, Comrade Patrick Ochei respectively for appropriate details,” the statement added.
“The candidates of the various parties already sent invitation letters are to be seated at the IDU Secretariat before the event kicks-off at 11am,” the statement concluded.
