WARRI/Nigeria: The constant traffic around DSC roundabout in Effurun is gradually becoming a nightmare to road users, as many complained of the economic effect its having on the people especially commercial drivers.
Even though the road has become a commercial hub for street traders and road safety officials, its effects on commuters might have a long term effect if not quickly contained.
Some of them while speaking to newsmen during an on the site assessment of the scenery lamented the effect of the traffic which sometimes elapses to the popular PTI junction, nothing that they sometimes see the need to use one-way when the road becomes in assessable.
According to the motorists, “even though the cause of the traffic cannot be ascertained but it might not be unconnected from heavy duty vehicles always plying the road from Warri to Port Harcourt, as well as the narrow nature of the road and the emergence of speed breakers.”
“We find it difficult to assess neighboring towns through this roundabout, especially in the evenings and we think the government should swing into action by dismantling the speed breaker for easy traffic.”
They however commended the removal of Army checkpoints from major assess roads in the state for free flow of traffic as well as the efforts of DESTMA and FRSC.
