The diffuculty in Accessing Ndokwa East, home to the Largest Gas Plant in Sub-Sahara Africa
ABOH/Nigeria: Again the people of Ndokwa East Constituency, Delta State have asked aspirants to provide the area with access roads to enable them gain economic providence.
The demand was made during the consultation visits of the house of Assembly hopeful, Engr. Philip Chukwumah Ugbomah, when he met with delegates that will vote during the party primary of the 10 wards of the local government area.
Engr. Ugbomah while addressing the delegates in their various wards reiterated his earlier promises of better representation, which will attract governments, development agencies attention to the plight of the people of the area.
“As I had promised before, I am saying it again; this is the time for proper change. This time, for we to think of who will bring development to our people. I had promised you better representation, if you send me. I will not fail you.” He said.
Continuing he said, “With my background of Engineering, my focus will be on the infrastructural development of our area, especially road networks. I will liaise with governments at various level, development agencies, and companies operating within our area to see the road problems as a major issue that need to be solved.”
“Yes, the work of a legislator is to initiate enabling laws that will attract better development, but in the midst of law making, he has the chance to interface between the constituency, the governments and development agencies and partners to make living conditions of the people better.”
He appealed to the various delegates not to miss the opportunity to bring better representation to the constituency, and advised them to play down on money politics, which is temporal, and will not attract the needed development.
“As we approach the date for the primaries, think about the future of our area, think about the future of your children, and think if the money you collect for a second will provide you the joy that you will get if you allow development of road that will attract economic growth of our area.”
He reminded them that the area being an agrarian environment, need roads to attain economic stability, as access roads will help for the evacuation of the various produces of the area.
He also, promised to encourage the inclusion of local content practice in the area, to allow for the employment of about 80 percent of the youths.
The house of assembly hopeful, stated that he will only be concerned with providing services to the constituency, and will leave the party leaders in the area to manage the party affairs without interference.
Reacting, at the various wards, the people encouraged him to continue to pursue his dream to represent the Ndokwa east, as they had for years failed to benefit from the dividend of democracy as majority of the area is not accessible at any point time of the year.
