WARRI/Nigeria: A Non Governmental Organization, NGO known as the Society for Community Peace has applauded the Delta State Government for organizing workshop on Conflict Resolution for Traditional Rulers institutions in the state.
In a statement made available to journalists on Monday January,15, 2018 by the media officer, Celestine Ukah and signed by the Coordinator of the NGO, The Society for Community Peace, Mr Omayeli Okotie, it read thus” Traditional Rulers play a pivotal role in our traditional communities and exert profound influence on Community folks. This positive influence can and should be exploited for Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) gains”.
The statement made available to newsmen applauded the Initiative of the Delta State Government and also recommended that such Conflict Resolution workshops held at Governor’s Office annexe Warri, recently should be organised for Community Leaders and Executives across the State, noting that it would build capacity for Conflict handling techniques and reduce acrimony and conflicts in various communities across the state.
The Coordinator, the Society for Community Peace, Mr. Omayeli Okotie, explained that the NGO is an independent body dedicated to Conflict Transformation and Peace Building activities in communities of Nigeria’s Niger Delta region.
