ATHEN/Greece: The Nigeria Ambassador to Greece, Okpunimi Akinkugbe have taken to Linkidin to celebrate Miss Arunma Oteh for her appointment as the Chair of the Royal African Society.
Ambassador Akinkugbe in the post said I celebrate my dear friend Arunma Oteh, who has been elected as the new chair of The Royal African Society. The post at press time had gathered more than hundred reactions, especially for someone who as director General of Nigeria Exchange Commission, had a lot of challenges, and went after then to be elected as a World Bank Executive.
In the earlier announcement, the director of the Royal African Society’s Dr Nick Westcott said:
“We are delighted that Arunma has agreed to take on the role of Chair. She is a great champion for Africa and will play a key role in connecting the Society with Africans everywhere and in ensuring their voices are heard. Her extensive experience across business, economic, academic, cultural and political spheres will be invaluable.”
Miss Arunma Oteh, acknowledged the appointment as she said: “This is a tremendous opportunity for me to lead such an eminent Council and contribute to the great work that the Royal African Society has been doing for 120 years.
In her response to Ambassador Akinkugbe, Oteh reacted: “Thank you so much Mme l Ambassadeur Opunimi Akinkugbe for this beautiful post on my selection as the Chair of the Royal African Society. It is indeed an honour given the important work that the Society has done over the last 120 years.”
The Society offers so many possibilities to learn about Africa, to influence policy, and to showcase the business and cultural opportunities that Africa offers, and thereby help unleash Africa’s enormous potential.”
Arunma Oteh is currently Academic Scholar at St. Antony’s College and an Executive-in-Residence at Saïd Business School, University of Oxford.
Her research areas of focus are capital markets, economic development and financial technology. She is co-founder of the African Investment Roundtable. (AIR)
Prior to this Arunma Oteh was Treasurer and Vice President of the World Bank, Director General, Securities and Exchange Commission, Nigeria, and Group Vice President and Treasurer at the African Development Bank.
