ASABA/Nigeria: The Deputy Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt Hon. Christopher Ochor Ochor has felicitated with the wife of the State’s Governor, Dame Edith Okowa on her birthday.
The Deputy Speaker extolled the first lady for blazing the trail in humanitarian services, noting that through her laudable 05 Initiative, she had provided succour to the needy, and increasingly improved the welfare of the poor in the state over the years.
In a statement by his Press Secretary, Mr. Emmanuel Enebeli, on Monday, Hon Ochor stated that Dame Okowa’s commitment to the well-being of Deltans and non Deltans had been unrivalled as a whole lot of persons, including the elderly had benefited from her medical outreach and poverty alleviated programmes over the years, irrespective of religious and political divide.
While praying for the first lady, Hon. Ochor urged her not to relent in her love and zeal to help humanity, saying, “it is obvious you are carrying out a divine duty as evident in your passion to attend to the sick, poor and elderly, in the fashion Mother Theresa of Calcutta took care of the sick and poor people and impacted the world greatly.”
He continued, “your passion to help and improve the lives of Deltans and non Deltans through your medical outreach programme, has given hope to the sick, and poor, especially the elderly and those suffering from Sickle Cell Anemia.
“As you celebrate ma, we encourage you to continue, and not to relent in your passion to help humanity. Your love for the welfare of the people, expecially the vulnerable persons in the society can only be compared to the sacrificial work of Mother Theresa of Calcutta, who was so passionate about caring for the sick, the poor and the elderly through out her life on earth.”
“Madam, I, my family and stafff celebrate with you on this special occasion. We pray to Almighty God to protect you, guide you, strengthen you, and empower you, as you always respond to the plight of the needy in the society,” the Deputy Speaker stated.
