The All Progressives Congress (APC) witnessed a soaring popularity on Saturday 29 when the Deputy Senate President (DSP), Sen. Ovie Omo-Agege stormed Kwale, headquarters of Ndokwa East local government area of Delta State to receive a crowd of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) decampees in Ndokwa nation.
Sen. Omo-Agege, while receiving the “new converts”, hailed their foresight in coming into APC fold, even as he assured them that their interest would be highly protected.
Continuing, Sen. Omo-Agege expressed concern about the recurring socioeconomic and infrastructural challenges bedeviling the oil- rich Ndokwa nation, even as he described the sad development as evidence of poor governance by successive PDP governments in the state. He promised to change the ugly narratives when the All Progressives Congress (APC) clinches the baton of leadership in Delta state in 2023.
Sen.Omo-Agege urged the new APC members to work assiduously to ensure total victory of APC in Delta State in 2023, stating that it is a task that must be achieved to liberate Ndokwa nation and the entire Delta State from the shackles of poor governance.
He said, “2023 is the expiration date for PDP’s control of Delta State. The reason l am excited today is that we have in our fold the strongmen who make things happen in Ndokwa nation’s politics. They have decided to join our party to achieve the mandate given to it by the good people of Delta State, come 2023. Having realised the ill-treatment being meted out to Ndokwa people by the PDP governments in Delta State,, they are saying ‘enough is enough’ and are passionately committed to putting the interest of Ndokwa nation over and above party politics by joining APC and help our party liberate Delta State from the shackles of underdevelopment. Therefore, I strongly join our able Chairman of APC, Delta State to formally welcome these great men -our new APC members and their supporters to the party of hope. I charge them to be fishers of the remaining PDP members and bring them to our great party with a view to moving our dear Delta State forward.”
Speaking earlier, the Chairman of APC, Delta State, Jones Erue, commended the decampees for taking the bold step to join the APC family. He said, “today is a happy day for our party. As you enter APC today you have encountered progress. Our party is driven by the principle of equality. I enjoin you to work together as a family to liberate Delta State by recording 100 per cent victory for APC in Ndokwa nation at the coming 2023 elections.”
Speaking on behalf of the decampees, Chief Tony Amechi said, “my brothers and l, having consulted widely, have decided to join APC because we are tired of the marginalisation of Ndokwa people.” Continuing, he described Sen. Ovie Omo-Agege as a leader who knows his onions and takes the interest of the people at heart as proven by his distinctive leadership prowess that has resulted in tremendous development of Delta Central and Delta State in recent times. Chief Amechi promised to muster support for APC in Ndokwa nation and ensure the party emerges victorious in 2023 elections.
Similarly, the convener of Agege New Delta Model (ANDEM), Pastor Edewor Egedegbe, who doubles as the Senior Special Assistance to Sen. Ovie Omo-Agege says that it is the popular opinion of Deltans that Sen. Omo-Agege proceeds to Osadebe house as the governor of Delta State in 2023, so that he would consolidate on his achievements in the red chamber and bring his rare prudency and administrative ingenuity to bear on the administration of the state.
He said, Sen. Ovie Omo-Agege’s determination to change the lack lustre trend of representation in Delta State is unparalleled, and this accounts for the reason Deltans, particularly the Ndokwa nation are calling on him to throw his hat in the ring for the 2023 gubernatorial contest, believing that his transparent and visionary leadership would dwarf the acclaimed achievements of the successive PDP governments in the state from 1999 to date.
Continuing, Egedegbe urged Omo-Agege to harken to the voice of the downtrodden Deltans who hanker for good governance, and take over governance of the state in 2023.
“As a trail blazer who has unveiled a new dawn in quality representation of the people of Delta Central at the red chamber, Omo-Agege should consider calls by the downtrodden in the state and throw his hat in the ring to vie for 2023 gubernatorial election, because the ‘big heart’ state longs for better leadership to engineer a new Delta state that will stand shoulder to shoulder with economic viable states like Lagos, Rivers, Kano and others,” he stated.
Egedegbe added, “the time has come for this rare gem (Omo-Agege) to become the governor of Delta state to chart a new dawn in the ardous task of leadership comparable to progressive economies the world over.
“If Omo-Agege could change the face of representation in Delta central senatorial district then, it is not impossible for him to engineer a new Delta, starting from 2023.
The political event was organised by the Agege New Delta Model (ANDEM), a frontline pro-Omo-Agege political philosophy. The climax of the event was formal renouncing of membership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), by the crowd of decampees.
