OBIARUKU/Nigeria: The reappointment of the Central Bank of Nigeria Gover, Mr. Godwin Emefiele had been described as a divine decision by a chieftain of the All Progressive Congress, APC, in Delta State, Mr. Chidi Uwabuofu while reacting to the recent recommendation of the CBN Governor for a second term by President Mohammadu Buhari.
“I am overwhelmed with the news that President Muhammadu Buhari has re-appointed Mr Godwin Emefiele as the Central Bank Nigeria CBN) governor pending the approval of the senate at the expiration of his first tenure.”
“Admittedly, this decision is in the national interest, a welcome development and an indication that Mr President’s NextLevel agenda would be paying critical attention at recruiting capable hands rather than incompetent fellows to handle the country’s affairs.”
He said Mr Emefiele has the wealth of knowledge in finance and economics, and the various financial achievements recorded under his stewardship as the CBN governor.
“Mr Godwin Emefiele has wealth of knowledge in finance and economics, and the unprecedented achievements recorded under his stewardship as the governor of the CBN undoubtedly is the reason why his services are much needed again by the federal government. His tenure renewal will ensure policy consistency and a continuation of CBN’s programmes aimed at revitalising our country’s agricultural sector.”
“Interestingly, the CBN governor, Mr Emefiele was appointed by the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) government headed by former President Goodluck Jonathan. Politically, one would not expect that the President will resolve to return an individual who was appointed during the reign of the opposition party.”
“With this novel development, I want to believe that the politics of allocating public offices to friends, party faithfuls, those who galvanised supports and offered huge donations during electioneering period as compensation at the expense of the wellbeing of the good people of Nigeria is gradually coming to an end under Buhari’s administration.”
“Exception of the CBN governor and perhaps few other appointees, it is my advice that many other top government officials in Buhari’s government should not be returned by Mr president in order to ensure a more proactive and vibrant NextLevel governance.”
