SAPELE/Nigeria: Suspected herdsmen have allegedly kidnapped two women in the wee hours of in Sapele, Delta State on Sunday 27th June, 2021.

The incident took place at NDDC Road in Sapele as the herdsmen, who were holding guns and sticks, were said to be speaking Fulani language.

It was gathered that the women were helping a family friend prepare food for her baby dedication party when they were kidnapped.

The men that were present managed to escape but the women were not that lucky as they were marched into the nearby forest.

On hearing the news, the community youths invaded the forest, got hold of some herdsmen but the women were nowhere to be found.

The owner of the residence where the women were kidnapped, Mr Mamus Adugbo, when interviewed, said he noticed some strange faces coming around of recent and asking questions but he never suspected they were trying to gather information.

As at the time of filing this report today, the kidnappers were yet to make contact with relations of the women and all attempts to locate the women proof abortive despite the careful combing of the forest by youths of the community.

The Police Public Relation Officer, Delta State Command, Mr Bright Edafe, confirmed the incident and added that no arrest had so far been made.
