ABUJA/Nigeria: The issue of the increasing call for restructuring of the country has received further boost from a body that called itself as the Nigeria Ethnic Nationality Youth Leaders/Presidents Forum to as a matter of urgency setup modality to start the process of restructuring the country, for effective development.
The meeting which was held in the nation’s capital, Abuja on Wednesday, 19 of July, 2017, said in a point communiqué after the meeting, that no gain emphasizing the obvious that the challenges confronting the Nigerian states are enormous, which if not timely identified and addressed may truncate the peaceful coexistence of the units and colony that amalgamated to become Nigeria.
They said that the meeting was informed by the willingness of the Nigerian youths to debate the possibilities of nipping the avoiding conflicts that may emerge.
The meeting while acknowledging the leadership of the coalition of northern youths and the Ohaneze youth council for their efforts in dousing ethnic tension, they among others demanded that
FG to as a matter of urgency reinforce the executive order issued to IOCs to relocate their head offices to their operational base.
To resist strangers from operating modular refineries in Nigeria.
FG and state governments to urgently address killings and clashes between Fulani herdsmen and farmers.
FG to set mechanism in motion towards restructuring the country, in line with true and fiscal federalism, devolution of powers in order to accommodate all the interest groups, regions, and the citizens of the FG of Nigeria.
FG should open up all the existing sea ports across the country in order to boost the economy of the nation, create employment for our teeming youths and enhance development of our dear country. They also advocated for participation in the governance of our Nigeria, at the ratio of 50% appointed positions and elected positions, from the state and Federal levels
The meeting also called call all the agitating groups,(the Niger Delta militants ,Biafra agitators, Arewa youths etc) to give peace a chance, for the interest, unity and progress of our dear country. God bless Nigeria. Nigeria Ethnic Nationality Youth Leaders/Presidents Forum.
