ASABA/Nigeria: Engr Philip Ugbomah, an Aspirant to the Ndokwa East Delta State House of Assembly seat, had congratulated the Delta State Peoples Democratic Party, PDP for a successful governorship primary on Sunday, September 30, 2018.

Reacting to the congress, Engr. Ugbomah said the collective endorsement of the present governor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa as the flagbearer of the party in the next years election, is significant as it has shown that unity exists among the party members.

He attributed the successful congress to the new spirit of internal democracy which the party had been preaching.

“I am not surprised at the outcome of the congress to select the candidate for the next year election. The party over time had evolved, and the new spirit is the expected internal democracy in the party.”

He affirmed that with the collective agreement of the party members to field only one aspirant in the run up to the congress, it shows that the party in the state and national have confidence in the person of Senator Ifeanyi Okowa.

“What happened on Sunday is a sign of trust, as members of the party vehemently endorsed His Excellency, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa as the party’s flag bearer in the 2019 governorship Election.”

Engr. Ugbomah, however said that the transparency, and unity of purpose exhibited in the governorship primary, should be extended to that of the legislative arms.

“We want what happened today to continue. The remaining primaries should be free and fair. Internal democracy should be allowed to flourish. With that,  PDP will be the party to beat.”
