ASABA/Nigeria: As Delta State celebrates the 26th anniversary of its creation, the state Commissioner for Information, Mr. Patrick Ukah, has congratulated Deltans for being resolute all through the period, especially the two years of this administration.
Speaking after a service held at the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Unity Modern Parish, Delta Province 3 Headquarters, Asaba, yesterday to mark the occasion, Mr. Ukah said that Deltans have every reason to celebrate.
The commissioner stated that despite the shortfall in federal allocation and Internally Generated Revenue (IGR), the state Governor has prudently applied what is available to the state to very critical areas of development in the three Senatorial Districts of the state.
Mr. Ukah urged warring communities in the state to sheathe their swords and embrace peace as no meaningful development can take place in areas were insecurity is the order of the day.
He charged Deltans to continue to support the present administration as the state government is more than ever before determined to bring more developmental projects to all parts of the state.
Mr. Ukah assured that all contractors who stopped work on their projects when the raining season started will return back to site as soon as the dry season sets in.
Also, in his message to Deltans and the governor, the Senior Special Assistant on New Media to Gov. Ifeanyi Okowa, Patriot Dantes Odogwu, while facilitating with the governor and Deltans, in his good will message said “we have faired well as a people and as a state in the last 26 years and still making steady progress, and with God on our side as always, we will get to our collective goal of all-round economic, social and political advancement of our dear State especially with our amiable governor Arthur Ifeanyi Okowa on the saddle”.
Speaking further in his country home in Asaba, he said “Deltans have every reason to celebrate this year’s anniversary considering the lofty developmental strides of Gov. Okowa in last two and half years. The Gov. Okowa we all know is one man who is irrevocably committed to advancing the course of Deltans as reflected in his SMART agenda and at this period of our history, we should queue behind him as we return all the glory to God Almighty who made it possible by seeing us through thus far”.
He called on Deltans to continue their support for the governor to be able to move the state forward, saying the best is yet to come from the governor known for keeping to his words of prosperity for all Deltans.
