The second lecture of the Value Rebirth-Centre leadership school, Effurun, was a blend of teaching, learning, birthday celebration, and electing of the executive members of the set 4 of the reputable school.
The lecture was held on Saturday 10 October 2020 with most of the students present. Two topics: “who is a leader, and developing the leader,” were exhaustively taught by the Director of Studies, Pastor Edewor Egedegbe. The lecturer employed interactive teaching methodology to drive home his points and the students were given the opportunity to ask questions and also make an input to the subjects during an interactive session.
The lecture ended on a good note as salient points on the topics were excellently imparted to the students by the erudite lecturer, Pst Edewor Egedegbe. At this point, the marking of the birthday of Pst. Edewor Egedegbe kicked off in fanfare. It was a simply organized birthday garnished with assorted wines and modest designs of balloons that beautifully added colour to the event. Photographs were taken, and speeches were made in honour of the celebrant.
A capacity crowd of the students and a retinue of well wishers from all walks of life were present at the epoch event. Among them was a notable personality and alumni of the leadership school, Mr. Emmanuel Charles Eyela who eulogised the celebrant in all his endeavours targeted at building a progressive Nigeria through the tutoring of pragmatic, competent and patriotic leaders to drive unprecedented growth Nigerians earnestly clamour for.
The birthday session simply rounded off on a memorable note as the celebrant, Pst. Egedegbe acknowledged a thunderous cheers from everyone present.
Without wasting time, the election of the executive members commenced. The electoral team was readily on ground to conduct the election. On the electoral team were astute personalities of impeccable character, including Mr. Charles Eyela who led the process. The conduct of the election was transparent and very superb. Seven executive positions: Governor, Deputy Governor, Commissioner of Communication, Commissioner of Finance, Commissioner of Welfare, Commissioner of Special Duties and Commissioner of Strategic Studies were keenly contested.
The election was preceded by a one minute presentation of manifesto by the candidates. Interestingly, three offices: Commissioner of Finance, Commissioner of Special Duties and Commissioner of Strategic Duties had one candidates each standing for the positions. Therefore, they were promptly endorsed as unopposed. Subsequently, the voting commenced in full swing and the following persons emerged winners as follows: Pastor Tobechukwu Okekenta – Governor; Mofe-Ojeice, O. – Deputy Governor; Comr. Emeka Nwokocha – Commissioner of Communication; Mrs. Okorigba Roselyn – Commissioner of Finance; Mr. Benjamin Ajemrona – Commissioner of Special Duties; Mr. Success Osharekurhe – Commissioner for Strategic Duties; and Olamitide Olatunji – Commissioner of Welfare.
Mrs. Ayo Nefertiti Okotie administered the oath to the elected officers while the Director of Studies, Pastor Edewor Egedegbe inaugurated the new executive. He charged them to be fully committed to their duties to engender speedy development of the school. Continuing, he said the emergence of the executive officers through election was the first in the history of the school, adding that in the past, the executive officers were randomly nominated by the students.
In his speech, the Governor, Pastor Tobechukwu Okekenta, thanked the Director of Studies and the entire students for giving him the opportunity to serve them in the next one year. He promised to bring his wealth of experience to bear on his new office, saying he would ensure the development of the school is taken to greater heights before his tenure rounds off. He enjoined the students to support his team of executives to make unmatched progress, saying, “together we shall do it better.”
Other officers of the executive pledged unalloyed commitment to moving the school forward, saying all hands would be on deck to achieving huge progress during their tenures. The new executive will be formally inducted by the Director of Studies, Pastor Edewor inductions soon.
