PORT HARCOURT/Nigeria: The former National Publicity Secretary of the defunct New People’s Democratic Party (nPDP) and current member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief Eze Chukwuemeka Eze, has raised concerns over the disruptive actions of FCT Minister Nyesom Wike and former Rivers Southeast Senator Magnus Abe within the APC ranks.
According to Chief Eze, both figures, previously pivotal antagonists causing upheaval in the state chapter of the party, seem to be vying for dominance, neglecting the individuals who bolstered the party during challenging times, particularly highlighting the significant contributions of the party leader in Rivers State, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi.
In a provided statement to various media outlets, Chief Eze expressed apprehension about the intentions of Wike and Abe, alleging their desire to further destabilize the party by aggressively pursuing leadership roles despite Amaechi’s continued membership and absence of a formal transition in the leadership structure.
Acknowledging personal friendships with both Wike and Abe, criticized their actions. He highlighted Senator Abe’s pivotal role in APC’s inception and his potential elevation to significant positions had he heeded advice and desisted from undermining the party.
Chief Eze lamented Abe’s alignment with Wike, attributing it to personal grievances over past elections, resulting in a departure from APC during the 2023 general elections, where Abe’s impact was minimal under the SDP banner.
The APC chieftain advocated for equitable recognition, suggesting that if President Tinubu was considering honoring those who contested against APC in Rivers State, Senator Abe should not be overlooked, considering his internal disruptions within the party.
Emphasizing the detrimental impact of both Wike and Abe on APC’s status in Rivers State, Chief Eze criticized Wike’s recent assembly of former lawmakers and political affiliates, labeling them as irrelevant figures and questioning the political significance of the gathering. He derided the luncheon as a mere display of gluttony, highlighting the absence of notable political figures and the lack of meaningful impact from those in attendance.
Chief Eze urged both Wike and Abe to publicly apologize to the people of Rivers State, particularly to the APC, for the chaos and hardships inflicted during the 2015 to 2023 electoral periods. He also called for a respectful visit to Amaechi, acknowledging the pivotal role played by the party leader in shaping APC’s presence in the nation.
Chief Eze emphasized the necessity for sincere intentions from both Wike and Abe should they intend to join APC, despite Wike’s previous denigration of the party, describing it as a critical juncture for the party’s survival.
