AGBOR/Nigeria: Members of the Ebuogba Vigilante group, stationed in Agbor within the Ika South local government area of Delta State, have pledged their unwavering commitment to eradicating criminal activities within their community.
During a thank-you-visit by concerned residents at their headquarters over the weekend, the group expressed determination to sustain their efforts, referred to by residents as “gallant activities,” particularly during the recent festive period.
Engr. Ebenezer Azobu, the Unit leader of the Vigilante group, emphasized their dedication to making the locality inhospitable for criminal elements. “Through our regular patrols in this area, we’re issuing a clear warning to all individuals inclined towards criminality: relocate or face our relentless opposition. We’ll match them power for power and strength for strength,” Azobu stated firmly.
He urged community cooperation, specifically from landlords and landladies, emphasizing the importance of reporting suspected criminal activities and vetting potential tenants thoroughly.
Azobu highlighted the collaboration between the vigilante group and conventional security agencies like the Nigerian Police, noting that individuals apprehended by the group were promptly handed over to law enforcement.
During the visit, Mr. Friday Chukwuma, a prominent local businessman, commended the vigilante group’s regular patrols for allowing residents to conduct their lawful activities without fear of robbery. He observed a significant decrease in incidents of theft, break-ins, motorcycle and phone snatching since the group’s inception.
Mr. Chukwuma pledged ongoing support from residents, ensuring the vigilante group received necessary assistance to fulfill their responsibilities effectively.
